A is for Acid was a 120 minute thriller directed by Harry Bradbeer based on the true life of the serial killer John Haigh.
The tv drama faithfully tracks the psychopath who created a sensation in England during the 1940’s for murdering women and then disposing of their bodies in barrels of acid. Follow Haigh from his strict and unloving parents to his early forays into crime through to the meticulous planning of murder, and eventual loss of control and apprehension. Martin Clunes played the creepy character and notorious murderer doing great justice to an excellent script written by Glen Chandler. Equally brilliant was the little boy Christopher Town who played the young Haigh.
A is for Acid is by all accounts a great success. Harry Bradbeer was much acclaimed for his realistic portrayal of post WWII England by viewers and critics alike. Viewers agree to the fact that Bradbeer has taken great care with the various details of the sets.
